You can register your school for a 14-day free trial here. Free trial membership entitles your school to unlimited access* to all resources and services across The Key. This includes Leaders, Safeguarding, CPD, GovernorHub and KeyGPT.
There's no obligation to take out membership of the service after you've used your free trial, and we won't ask for your payment details when you register.
There is no limit on how many staff can join your school’s trial. Each staff member will have access to the trial from the time that they join until the trial ends.
*Free trial excludes access to our live leadership courses and GovernorHub tool.
I have previously registered for a free trial of The Key. Am I still eligible?
If you signed up for a free trial before 26 November– your school is eligible for a 14-day free trial, unless it meets any other criteria for non-eligibility.
Somebody else in my school started a free trial. How do I join?
If your school has already set up a 14-day free trial, you can join the current trial or invite other colleagues to the trial by sharing this link with them while your trial is active. You’ll be asked to choose your school before creating an account. This means your account will be connected to your school’s trial.
My school does not appear when I try to register for the free trial.
If your school does not appear on the drop-down when selecting your school for the free trial, please contact our support team, who would be happy to help.
Your school can only start 1 free trial within a 12-month period. If you request for your trial to be reset, this will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. You can view our Terms and Conditions here.

Does my headteacher need to start my school’s trial?
No, any staff member at your school can activate your free trial. However, to make the most of your school’s trial period, we recommend you involve your Headteacher in the process, alongside inviting other colleagues to explore The Key.

I’m a member of The Key. Can I start a trial?
If you’re a member of The Key with a Leaders or Leaders+ subscription, you can start a free trial. You’ll gain access to the resources available in our Whole School membership for the duration of your trial, alongside your current service(s).
Any staff with accounts will be notified that your school has started a trial, giving them access to our Whole School support.
If you’re a Whole School member, you will not be able to start a trial, as you already have unlimited access to all of our resources!
Why can’t I access GovernorHub tools or live leadership courses?
Your trial period gives you access to thousands of trusted resources from our library. However, due to the nature of our live courses and GovernorHub tool, they are not included in trial access at present.
Something happened in school which meant we didn’t use our trial. Can we restart it?
We understand school life is unpredictable. If you’d like to discuss restarting your free trial, please contact our support team.
I would like to change the ‘3 biggest challenges’ that I chose during the free trial registration.
