The principles of good assessment

This course helps to develop teachers’ confidence and expertise in assessment,

Differentiation

This course explores the principles of effective differentiation, and aims to provide participants with a strong understanding of how to help all pupils make good progress.

Unleashing excellent teaching

This course places reflection at the heart of school improvement. It unpacks the features of effective practice and explores how to use evidence to identify areas for development. 

Effective feedback

Research summarised in the Sutton Trust/Education Endowment Foundation Toolkit shows that high quality pupil feedback has an average impact of eight additional months of progress for pupils.

Metacognition

Metacognition and self-regulation (learning to learn) aim to help pupils to think about their own learning more explicitly. This course will improve participants’ understanding of how to develop pupils’ metacognitive and self-regulation skills

Teaching assistants

This course facilitates whole-school action planning to ensure that TAs have a strong, positive impact on learning. The sessions unpick cutting-edge research surrounding the deployment, preparedness and practice of TAs and enable participants to explore the practical implications for their school.

Developing a growth mindset

Research suggests that pupils who have a growth mindset – the belief that intelligence is malleable – try harder, persist for longer, seek out feedback and set themselves more challenging goals. 

Literacy (primary reading)

Reading and literacy are key challenges throughout the primary curriculum, and are best supported with a focused effort across all teaching staff. This course will ensure everyone is working off the same page to improve pupil outcomes.

Oracy

This 25-minute session summarises a report published by LKMco and Voice 21 on the importance and power of oracy.

TAs

Within 60 minutes, your TAs will be equipped with:

  • Practical strategies to make a bigger impact on pupil outcomes (such as deployment, preparedness and practice)

Within 115 minutes, your TAs will:

  • Evaluate your school's current TA practice, and work together to begin developing a whole-school action plan to move practice forward quickly

Literacy (primary writing)

Emphasises the importance of teaching Key Stage (KS) 1 and KS 2 pupils about audience and writing for a purpose

Budgeting for school improvement

This course explores the links between financial planning and school improvement. It aims to help staff to develop practical skills and understanding of how to manage budgets effectively, and identify opportunities for efficiency savings.

Success in middle leadership

Explore the characteristics and behaviours of strong middle leaders, by looking at how efficient leaders behave and use their time, and by undertaking effective self-evaluation.

Coaching to drive school improvement


This course aims to build participants’ understanding of how coaching can be used to transform practice and drive school improvement. 

Train the trainer

This course unpacks the principles of effective adult learning and professional development to help in-school facilitators plan, deliver and refine CPD for optimal impact. 

Engaging parents

This training course aims to help staff develop strong partnerships with parents and carers based on effective communication. 

Managing transitions in international schools

This training course explores the effect of transition on the international school community, including staff, pupils and parents.

Speech, language and communication (primary)

This course unpacks the process of SLC skill development. Staff will also have an opportunity to explore strategies to support pupils with SLC needs.

This course unpacks the process of SLC skill development. Staff will also have an opportunity to explore strategies to support pupils with SLC needs.

Managing behaviour

This training course explores evidence and research into high-impact approaches to behaviour management. 

Improving time management

This course aims to equip participants with practical time management strategies and techniques to help them to use their time more effectively and efficiently.

Autism awareness

For World Autism Awareness Week, this 25-minute training session provides an introduction to the symptoms of ASD, and dispels some common myths. 

ADHD awareness

Following ADHD awareness month, this 25-minute session provides an introduction to the causes, symptoms and treatments of ADHD.

Raising achievement and closing gaps

This module applies recent research and excellence in school practice to enable schools to raise aspirations, using well-evidenced strategies to identify and address gaps relating to ethnicity, gender and social background.

Analysing school performance data

This session aims to support school staff in their first steps towards analysing performance data. It focuses on Analyse School Performance (ASP), which replaced RAISEonline as a school performance data analysis tool in summer 2017.

Outstanding subject leadership

This course gives subject leaders the skills they need to articulate their own educational vision and use this to inform curriculum design, subject enrichment and subject-level interventions designed to raise achievement.

This training course provides an opportunity to reflect on questioning practice and to explore a range of theories on effective questioning.
